WANT TO GET INVOLVED OR HELP?

The ‘Better Trains for Chepstow (BT4C)’ was formed in January 2007 with the purpose of securing improved rail services for the Chepstow area. Our members have extensive railway knowledge and a wealth of experience. We aim to see our railway facilities put to better use in serving our community.

We work closely with the Severn Tunnel Action Group (STAG) who seek to restore FGW services at Severn Tunnel Junction and to improve the station and its train services.

Much of BT4C’s effort has been directed towards getting the Nottingham to Cardiff, Cross Country services to call at Chepstow, and this will continue, but we are now working for regular and more frequent local services, better connections to Bristol and for improved car parking at Chepstow Station.

DID YOU KNOW?

  • CHEPSTOW is served by ARRIVA TW trains that run between CARDIFF to CHELTENHAM SPA. These trains don’t even run every hour, not even at peak times. We aim for a regular hourly service.

  • Many people are unaware that a regular hourly express service operated by CrossCountry passes through CHEPSTOW ALL DAY without stopping. It is BT4C’s aim to have all these trains stop at Chepstow.

  • The service to Bristol doesn’t run every hour either. At best it takes 51 minutes most often it takes 1hour 25minutes. Our modest aim is for a regular hourly service with a consistent journey time of no more than 52 minutes. (Bristol Temple Meads and Newport are both 14 miles from Chepstow.)

BT4C has assembled a great deal of information from our communications and research over the past 5 years. This valuable resource and the full and excellent support from our small team of volunteers will be available to whoever takes over.
